Half the Perfect World

Zurich: only 0.1% empty, yet thousands wait

We build in halves, with an essential core of heat, plumbing and structure, nailed to the city‘s last remaining Allmend. The other half waits for new residents to script their own design, with walls, windows and whatever else they need, by consenus not decree.

Garden plots disolve, fences vanish, infrastructure shared, a testing ground for the city as commons, for how we could better live together. Land forgets its price, the fruits of the earth are for everyone; the earth itself for no one.

From here, a self-governing garden takes place, a cooperative model any city can learn from.
