Architecture is more than the design of buildings and finished objects. It is active: to architect, and means to think, design and build viable models for living together. Thus, our main interest is in understanding the frameworks in which we are creating architecture: reality, with all its underlying power structures, in order for us to change them.
Only if we understand the frameworks as equally important design tasks, we will be able to gain new agency and capacity for our profession or, as architect and author Keller Easterling said: „It seems there isn't any chance, that the spatial changes we want to make are going to be made, unless we can not only design the thing, but design the advent of that idea into culture.“ We stand by that statement.
