We are losing the identity of the Allmend.

The term Allmend includes the fact that the public can appropriate space for a certain period of time. The ground belongs to everyone. This also entails conflicts that must be negotiated. When conflicts between different uses began to be resolved through spatial separation and recorded in a usage agreement, individual appropriation was no longer practiced.

Now, the designation of the „Allmend“ as an use area is to be abolished in the zoning plan revision. The legal safeguard that the area is kept free for the public is lost, and with it the basic idea of the commons. We campaign to keep the Allmend as a zone and propose to expand it to the whole area of the old Allmend.
